-Amanda Hintz-

Hello and welcome to my slice of the infinite internet pie. Currently I am a graduate student here at the University of South Florida in Tampa. I was born in Tampa, Fl and earned my A.A. degree in Liberal Arts at HCC. I then moved to Hawai'i to earn my B.S. in Geology at the University of Hawai'i. I have since returned to Florida to pursue a Master's degree in Geology, to be followed by a PhD at a yet undisclosed location.

My professional interests in geology are mostly in volcanology, luckily the study of volcanoes encompasses so many factions of science I am able to pursue many interesting topics. Im a basalt girl at heart, but the more I delve into volcanology, the more things I find interesting. Mineralogy and Petrology are two of my favorites, along with geochemistry, active monitoring, and field work. Field work! I love field work! Thats the rock-hound in me, but thats what dragged me into this whole mess to begin with, I love life in the field. Spotting the obvious, searching for the clues and future research projects. It truly is the good life, as far as Im concerned.

My research thus far has led me all over the place, from Hawaii to Mexico and all over the USA. If you are interested in knowing more about my past and present research projects please visit my research and publications page.
